The Hays school board will meet with its architectural firm, DLR, to discuss possible next steps in a bond issue at 6:30 tonight at the Rockwell Administration Center.
The board heard results from a survey at its meeting on April 12 that indicated 68 percent of respondents would support a USD 489 bond issue.
The board has not made a decision to move forward with a bond election yet, nor have they made any decisions on what might be contained in a bond issue.
The district has had two failed bond issues in the last five years. It has been more than 30 years since the district has passed a bond issue.
The board will also hear from Eric Burks, NCK-Tech president, about partnerships between the technical college and USD 489.
Kyle Carlin, director of the special education cooperative, will give a special education report.
Capital projects
The board will also discuss several capital projects.
The board will consider spending $149,000 on upgrades for the Hays High School and Hays Middle School security camera systems.
It will considering spending $82,000 on computers for district staff.
HHS is proposing the purchase of new band uniforms at a cost of $59,000.
The board will also consider the bid for the secure entrance at Wilson Elementary School.
