Severe thunderstorms rolled across west-central Kansas, including Lane and Ness counties, shortly after 7:30 p.m Thursday.
A tornado was also reported just before 9 p.m. approximately 9.5 miles east-northeast of Dighton, according to the National Weather Service in Dodge City.
The storms dropped hail and heavy rain in that area, with 3.16 inches of rain falling six miles southwest of Utica. Flood warnings were also issued for the area.
The major activity stayed west and south of Hays.
According to the K-State Agricultural Research Center, Hays received 0.25 inch of rain.
