The TMP-Marian Monarchs spilt a double-header with the Abilene Cowgirls and Cowboys Friday night at Al Billinger Fieldhouse in Hays.
Girls; TMP 68, Abilene 21
The Lady Monarchs (10-2) got out to a quick first quarter start, opening the game on a 20-6 run. Jaci VonLintel knocked down four first-quarter three pointers and scored 14 of her career-high 28 points in the first quarter.
TMP, ranked 10th this week in 3A, led 23-10 through one quarter of action.
In the second quarter the Monarchs outscored Abilene 11-2 as they took a 34-12 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half TMP outscored Abilene 20-7 in the third quarter and 14-2 in the fourth quarter with a continuous clock as the Monarchs cruised to a 68-21 win.

VonLintel鈥檚 career-high 28 led three Monarchs in double-figures. Emilee Lane scored 14 points and pulled down 12 rebounds and Megan Hamel scored a season-high 12 points.

Boys: Abilene 68, TMP 60
The TMP boys got out to a quick start, leading by five twice to open the game but 9th ranked Abilene used a strong second quarter to build a double-digit lead on their way to a 68-60 win Friday in Hays.

With the Monarchs leading 8-6 Dylan Werth scored six straight for TMP as they built a 14-11 lead. Abilene was able to tie the ball game at 14 on a three at the end of the first quarter.
With the game tied at 16 Abilene would string together a 19-7 run and take a 12-point lead at 35-23. It was their largest lead of the game.
TMP got the deficit back to nine at the end of the third quarter at 45-37.
Lucas Lang scored 11 straight points to open the fourth quarter and helped TMP close within four down the stretch at 54-50, with his fifth field goal of the fourth quarter. TMP closed within three points at 62-59 on a Kade Harris layup but it wouldn鈥檛 be enough as the Cowboys held on for the 68-60 victory.
Game highlights
Lang鈥檚 20 points was a game-high. Dylan Werth added 16 points for TMP and Jackson Schulte scored 12.
TMP falls to 9-4.
The Monarchs return to MCL action on Tuesday at home against Trego.
