Mary J. Brungardt, 77, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023, in Overland Park, Kansas.
Mary was born December 2, 1946, in Hays, Kansas to Joseph and Elizabeth (Wellbrock) Brungardt. She was a 1964 graduate from Hays High School and attended classes at Fort Hays State University. She worked briefly for Western Auto and then worked for Social Security Administration, retiring as a manager with 30 years of service. She was a member of Cure of Ars Catholic Church. Mary enjoyed traveling to many national and international destinations. She was an avid reader, loved to peruse interest publications (travel, cooking and shopping), trying new restaurants, cooking, gardening, and entertaining and spoiling her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed organizing the luncheons for the retirees of the Social Security Administration, breakfast outings with the Western Auto Breakfast Club and numerous gatherings with family and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her grandparents Balthasar and Rosa (Frank) Brungardt, and John and Anna (Broekelman) Wellbrock; her parents Joseph and Elizabeth (Wellbrock) Brungardt; sisters Geraldine “Gerri” Enslinger, Rosalee “Rose” Brungardt, Mae Suppes; brother-in-laws Edward “Eddie” Suppes, Francis Wildeman and John Van Quaethem. She is survived by her sisters Doreen Wildeman and Helen Van Quaethem; brother Dale Brungardt and his wife Thuong; brother-in-law Cornelius “Corny” Enslinger; nieces and nephews, Gloria Rohr and husband Neil, Terry Suppes and wife Marsha, Darrell Enslinger, Rick Suppes, David Suppes and wife Michele, Dennis Enslinger and husband Tom Lore, Troy Wildeman and wife Kim, Dean Enslinger and wife Chelsea, Paul Brungardt, Ronda Van Quaethem and husband Doug Veach, Jennie Brungardt and husband Rodney Rego, Renee Van Quaethem and husband Michael van der Breggen, Tonya Brungardt and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 AM with a Funeral Mass starting at 10:30 AM Friday, December 22, 2023 at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, Kansas.
