Leo V. Friebus

Leo V. Friebus, 86, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020, at Main Street Manor in Russell.

Leo was born August 19, 1933, in Dorrance, Kansas. He was the son of John C. and Lydia (Wallert) Friebus. He grew up in Dorrance and graduated from Dorrance High School.

Leo was united in marriage to Janice M. Prediger on July 4, 1954, in Dorrance. This union was blessed with two sons, Dwight and Drew. They made their home on a farm outside of Dorrance. Janice preceded him in death on March 24, 2020.

Leo was a farmer most of his life. He also worked in the oilfields, was a school bus driver for many years and was a truck driver. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Dorrance and the American Angus Association. He enjoyed fishing and taking care of his black angus cattle.

Leo’s surviving family include his two sons, Dwight Friebus (Stacey) of Greeley, Colorado and Drew Friebus (Molly) of Russell, Kansas.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents; wife Janice; two brothers, Ernest Friebus and Melvin Friebus; and five sisters, Emma Smith, Ella Rumley, Eva Mae Schmidt,Violet Stull and Elsie Sebesta. A private family service will be held at a later date. The family has chosen Cremation and no visitation will be held. A Memorial has been established with the First Lutheran Church of Dorrance.
