
Lydia Jeanette Watkins Bundgard, 39, who passed away on Feb. 7, 2022, in Oberlin. KS, was born April 29, 1982, in Minneapolis, MN, the only child of Melvin Watkins and Margaret Lee. She was baptized at St. David's Episcopal Church by Fr. Ronald Bauer in Minnetonka Mills, MN and received her 1st Communion at Incarnation Catholic Church in Minneapolis.
A 2000 graduate of South High in Minneapolis, she attended
Minneapolis Community and Technical College while working at Bachman's
Garden Center. In 2008, before applying to the International Culinary
Institute in Minneapolis, she married Master Sgt/E7 Jeremy Bundgard, Air
National Guard, stationed at Ft. Snelling, Minneapolis. Three children
were born to them: Henry, now age 13, Jacob, age 8 and Olivia age 6.
Lydia was a homemaker who enjoyed live popular music concerts and the
culinary arts. She and her family were members of the Minnesota Zoo
where they enjoyed frequent outings. A former Girl Scout and organ
donor, she will be missed for her sparky sense of humor, her intellect,
and the warmth and love she shared with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by grandparents Henry and Jeanette Clayton
Brown of Minneapolis. She is survived by her parents, Melvin and
Margaret (Lee) Watkins and half-sister, Shantina (Watkins) Allen
Benjamin; husband Jeremy Bundgard and 3 children; maternal aunt Ann
Brown and husband Stephen Hollick; cousin Joan Hollick; and best friend
Emmy TeGantvoort, all of Minneapolis.
A Memorial Service in Oberlin will be held at 2 pm, Friday the 11th
of February, at Oberlin Covenant Church. A graveside service will be
held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation.
