Bruce Allan Weis, 51, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on December 3, 2025, as the result of an automobile accident in Russell County. He was a beloved husband, father, and friend who was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
He was born on May 22, 1974 in WaKeeney, Kansas. Bruce was raised around the Hays area, and later moving to Wichita, where he lived out the rest of his life.
He married Misty Dawn McMillan on May 10, 1997 at Wilson Lake. He was incredibly proud of the life they built together.
Bruce had a big heart and was always willing to lend a hand; helping others in any way he could. His family fondly remembers the way he would assist anyone who knocked on the door for help after seeing his HVAC work truck parked outside, and expecting nothing in return. He could make friends with anyone, and many of these people he helped turned into life-long friends.
He had been very active through the years volunteering with Big Brothers & Big Sisters and enjoyed spending time with his “Little Brother,” who he mentored for about seven years. Bruce and Misty were also Foster Parents for 15 years and formed special bonds with many of those children, including Skiler McGraw, and many others.
As an avid outdoorsman, Bruce found true peace and happiness in nature. His passions included hunting and fishing. Nothing was better to him than the joy of sharing good food and conversation with others. He loved grilling and smoking meats, cheeses, and preparing anything and everything delicious to be shared with friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Misty of Wichita; son, Adonis Weis of Wichita and fiancée, Nourin Karim; daughter, Jessica Kim and husband, Edward of Denver, Colorado; his father, John Weis and step-mother, Carol of Schoenchen; brothers, James Weis of Wichita, and Scott Weis of Hays; and two grandchildren, Amore Huynh and Dahlia Kim.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly Weis of Wichita.
Bruce was an HVAC Service Tech for Central Consolidated in Wichita, and was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union of Kansas, UA441.
In keeping with his wishes, Bruce wanted a simple cremation with his ashes eventually spread over his favorite hunting and fishing areas, allowing him forever to be part of the natural landscapes he cherished so much.
