Vaughn A. Duncan

Vaughn A. Duncan, 96, passed away August 19, 2021, at his home in Great Bend. He was born August 29, 1924, at Garfield, to Ray A. & Pearl E. (Bingaman) Duncan. He married Margaret Ruthe Robbins on December 27, 1948, at Garfield.  She died December 8, 2001.

Coming from Pratt in 1968, Vaughn was a Great Bend resident. He was a yard foreman at Bovaird Supply. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Barton County Historical Society, Great Bend Senior Center and the American Legion Post #300 in Garfield. Vaughn loved all things auto related and could fix anything. He was a jack of all trades. Vaughn was veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart for his service.

Survivors include, two sons, Von Stewart Duncan and wife Gayla of Hudson, and David Brent Duncan and wife Kim of Valley Center; a sister, Ruby Buller of Halstead; nine grandchildren, Ryan Cook, Jamie Baxter (Chris), Kynha Duncan, Brent Duncan, Tyler Duncan, Jeremiah Duncan (Megan), Reilly Duncan (Kara), Angela Duncan, and Katie Ritz; and nine great grandchildren, Nora, Emma, Connor, Sophia, Collin, Landon, Owen, Cooper, and Karly. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret Ruthe Duncan; a son, Stephen Ray Duncan; a grandson, Brandon Nash Duncan; two brothers, Floyd Duncan and Vern Duncan; and a sister, Sylvia Snodgrass.

Visitation will be held from Noon to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 27, 2021, at Trinity United Methodist Church, with Pastor Chris Lehew presiding. Interment will be in the Larned Cemetery, with Military Rites conducted by the United States Army Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been designated to Trinity United Methodist Church, Great Bend Senior Center or the American Legion Post #300 in Garfield, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
