⚾ TMP drops two against Great Bend

HAYS - The TMP baseball team dropped their second straight doubleheader on Tuesday as they’ve now lost a season-high four straight games, losing to Great Bend 9-0 and 11-5.

Game 1: Great Bend 9, TMP 0
In the first game the Panthers used a five-run fifth inning and out-hit the Monarchs 13-5 in the 9-0 victory.

The two teams were scoreless through two innings before the Panthers plated two runs in the top of the third inning.

They added five in the fifth and two more in the sixth for a 9-0 lead.

Braxton Basgall collected two of the Monarchs five hits.

Ty Schmeidler suffered the loss. He allowed seven runs, four earned on eight hits in four innings. He struck out five and walked two.

Game 2: Great Bend 11, TMP 5
In the second game the Monarchs jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. Scoring a pair of runs on an error in the first inning and then later in the inning they scored on a wild pitch.

But Great Bend came back to tie it in the fifth and then scored eight runs in the sixth inning on their way to the 11-5 victory.

The Panthers outhit TMP 14-2 in game two. Caden Dinkel had both hits for TMP.

Issac Purinton suffered the loss for the Monarchs. He allowed 10 runs, just three were earned on eight hits in two and two thirds innings relief.

TMP is now 10-6 and will travel to Russell on Friday.
