WICHITA, Kan. - The Fort Hays State track and field team saw one school record go down and added two more national qualifying marks on day two of the KT Woodman Classic hosted by Wichita State on Saturday.
Ryan Stanley set an outdoor personal-best and broke the outdoor school record in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 17-3.5 to win by more than 1.5 feet. The senior entered the competition at 16-2.75, where he was the only successful jumper remaining in the competition. He then pushed the bar one-half inch above the former school record and cleared it on his first attempt. Stanley currently ranks fourth on the NCAA DII performance chart for the season.
Lyric Holman placed first in the 100m dash at this event for the second year in a row, winning with a national-qualifying time of 11.83. She also placed fifth in the 200m dash with a time of 24.59 and anchored the 4x100m relay alongside Jasey Downing, Kinley Brown and Tori Poe that finished fourth with a combined time of 47.59.
Liberty Booker finished 10th in the shot put with a top heave of 40-10.5, with Annabeth Baalmann finishing 11th in the pole vault (11-0), Hannah Wiebe finishing 11th in the 800m (2:20.29) and Reba Mader placing 11th in the 400m dash (58.57).
Hayden Albright was the top Division II finisher in the 400m dash, placing fourth overall with a time of 48.03. Xavier Robinson was also the top DII placer in the triple jump, finishing second with a top leap of 47-4.5. Kolgan Ohl picked up a top 10 finish in the hammer with a heave of 173-8.
Next up for the Tigers is a trip to California to compete in meets hosted by Azusa Pacific and Long Beach State April 13-15.
