Lidwina “Liddy” Ruder, 100, Hays, died Monday, March 9, 2026 at Via Christi Village.
She was born January 4, 1926, in Munjor, the youngest child of Sebastian and Mary (Pfannenstiel) Leiker. On September 15, 1947 she was united in marriage to Edward J. Ruder in Hays, and they celebrated 43 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on November 12, 1990. Liddy was a loving wife, mother, and devoted farmwife, helping Edward with field work and milking cows. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and a HaysMed volunteer.
Liddy filled her time with sewing and crafts. As a talented seamstress, she sewed clothes for her family, made Barbie doll clothes, and continued mending clothes for others well into her 90s. She enjoyed playing Pinochle, making noodles, and doing wordsearch puzzles.
Survivors include her son Richard Ruder (Sharon) of Munjor, four grandchildren Brad Ruder of Troy, ID, Angie Klimko (Chris) of Pullman, WA, Chad Ruder (Jackie) of Hays, and Nichole Sauer (Randy) of Hays, five great grandchildren Shannon Ruder and Amy Ruder, both of Hays, Zane Bickaham of Seattle, WA, Rawley Larkin and Ella Klimko, both of Pullman, WA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward, her son Ronald, and her brothers and sisters Odilia Leiker, Ted Leiker (Sally), Rose Mary Urban (Wendelin), Severine Leiker (Marie), Marcella Giebler (Bob), and Alvin Leiker (Aggie).
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Munjor with Fr. Damian Richards officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 on Wednesday and from 9:00 am until 9:40 on Thursday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. A vigil service and Rosary will be at 5:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church or for masses.
