
Judith Kay Leiker, 77, Hays, died Sunday, March 16, 2025 at HaysMed after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born September 3, 1947 in Hays, the daughter of Everett J. “Corky” and Rosalind (Staab) Urban. She attended Loretto Elementary School, Victoria High School, and Hays High School, and on June 8, 1974 she was united in marriage to Allen F. Leiker in Hays, celebrating 50 years of marriage. Judith was a loving homemaker and she worked with Allen at Al’s Kerr-McGee Station, which they owned and operated. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a past member of the VFW Auxiliary, enjoyed music, gardening, and was interested in genealogy, keeping many family newspaper clippings, and creating photo books. Her love for animals included her precious dogs, raising rabbits, and nurturing orphaned birds. She enjoyed trips to Estes Park and the mountains, but her greatest love was her family.
Survivors include her husband Allen F. Leiker of Hays, a son, Jason Leiker of Plainville, two daughters, Jackie Lang and husband Randy of Hays and Laura Geschwentner of husband Jeff of Ellis, a stepson, William Leiker of Colorado Springs, CO, her brother, Tim Urban and wife Donna of Lenexa, two sisters, Patricia Fielder and husband Phil of Basehor and Diane Urban of Hays, nine grandchildren, Cole Lang and wife Ashley, Brandi Lang, Cody Jarmer, Derrick Jarmer, Brandon Geschwentner, Mara Lang and husband Jonathan, Nicholas Geschwentner, James Leiker, and Jonathan Leiker, eight great grandchildren, Anthony, Hunter, Elyse, MaKenna, Lake, Landon, Bentley and Paisley, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Michelle Jarmer, and three grandchildren, Nicole Lang, Michael Leiker, and Bryce Jarmer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Reginald A. Urban officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on Wednesday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Thursday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. A parish vigil service and rosary will be at 6:30 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made payable to Allen Leiker to be used for the family’s wishes.
