Along with temperatures 10 to 15 degrees cooler than normal for this time of year, the past four days have also brought welcome rain to Hays.
A total of 1.45 inches of rainfall was measured from Saturday morning through Tuesday morning at the K-State Agricultural Research Center south of town.
That considerably narrowed the gap between the month-end 3.01 inches average rainfall and the to-date amount of 2.63 inches.
So far in 2025, Hays has received 16.41 inches of moisture. The 158-cumulative average by the end of August is 17.70 inches.
The three-day forecast calls for a chance of showers again Wednesday with temperatures in the low 70s.
