TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - Fort Hays State overcame an early 10-point first half deficit to tie Northeastern State at halftime then used a strong second half to pull away for a 73-58 win Saturday afternoon at the NSU Event Center.

The Tigers went 2-1 during their three-games in four-days swing through Oklahoma to move to 9-9 on the season.

After being tied at halftime, the Tigers opened the second half with an 18-9 run to build a 47-28 lead. The Tigers would build the lead to 16 then scored the final six points after the RiverHawks (2-16) closed within nine.

Quinten Rock hit four of the Tigers nine 3-pointers and led them with 19 points. He also dished out seven assists with only two turnovers.

Jared Vitztum scored the first six points of the second half and finished with his NCAA Division II-leading 10th double-double of the season, producing 14 points and 12 rebounds. After surpassing the 1,000 point mark earlier in the week, he becomes the eight player in FHSU history to score 1,000 points and have 600 rebounds in his career. 

Jordan Pumphrey added 12 points.
