MILFORD LAKE - The Hays High boys and girls cross country teams both finished third at the Bob Schmoeckel Invitational hosted by Junction City at Milford Lake. Hays returned with 11 total medalists between the varsity and junior varsity races.
Elijah McCullough was the boys individual champ, pacing the field at 16:40.80. Taevian Maupin finished 10th. Freshman Logan Leiker medaled at 19th.
McCullough won the race by nearly three seconds.
The girls were led by Arely Maldonado in 6th place with a 19:53. Three more runners medaled. Julia Zadina placed 14th, Brenlynn Albers 15th and Addison Otte 20th.
Salina Central's Katelyn Rupe won the race in a course record time of 17:05.90. She won by a full minute ahead her own teammate.
The Indians will next compete in the Salina Central Invitational held at Bill Burk Park on Saturday, October 7th.
