Mary Margaret Werth, 73, died August 3, 2023, at Ascension St. John Jane Phillips Hospital, Bartlesville, OK. She was born September 5, 1949, in Okeene, OK, to Henry and Marie (Kirchner) Huhman.

Mary attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Okeene, OK, and was a 1968 graduate of Okeene High School.

She was employed as the head cashier at St. Mary’s Hospital, Enid, OK, until 1985. Mary was a bookkeeper and worked for various businesses from 1985 to 2015.

She was a member of the Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson, KS.

Mary enjoyed sewing, needle crafting, and making blankets for the church Altar Society. She was known for making the ‘best bierocks in the state of Kansas’. Mary had a love for her pets, but her greatest love and source of joy was her family and friends. She thoroughly loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

On May 11, 1985, Mary married Ronald Werth, and they moved to Kansas. They shared over 38 years of marriage.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Werth of Hutchinson, KS; children, Annie (Brian Orth) Werth of Sedgwick, KS, and Phillip Werth of Hutchinson, KS; grandson, Trexton Murphy; siblings, Rose (Jim) Monahan of Murrysville, PA, and Anthony (Judy) Huhman of Enid, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents.

Rosary will be 6:30 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2023, at Elliott Mortuary. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2023, with the family to receive friends immediately following the rosary until 8 p.m. on Friday, at Elliott Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Road, Hutchinson, KS. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the Ascension Cemetery, 7200 E. 45th St. N, Bel Aire, KS.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation or Hutchinson Animal Shelter, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
