Per-day virus rate at 2 in Ellis Co.; just 3 new cases identified

The Ellis County Health Department on Monday reported the average number of new coronavirus cases per day in the last seven days remained flat from Friday at two.

There were just three new cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County since Friday. There are currently 18 active cases, including four active hospitalizations of Ellis County residents, and 3,677 recovered cases.

As of Monday, there were nine COVID-19 inpatients at HaysMed, down from 10 on Friday, with two of those active patients and seven in the recovery phase.

The seven-day average of percent of positive tests rose from just less than 2 percent on Friday to 3.7 percent on Monday.

Since reporting began, there have been 3,695 cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County, including 72 coronavirus-related deaths.

Of the total 25,103 tests administered, 13.6 percent have returned positive for COVID-19.

NOTE: "New cases" reflects cases reported by the Ellis County Health Department between regular reporting periods of Monday, Wednesday and Friday. "Total cases" reflects all cases reported by the department. Because of delayed test results, total cases might include cases prior to the previous reporting period, so KDHE figures might not necessarily correspond.
