PHILADELPHIA - The Fort Hays State women's basketball team ranks 22nd in the 2024-25 D2CSC Preseason National Media Poll, released Tuesday by the organization of NCAA Division II College Sports Communicators.

The Tigers picked up 85 points in the voting process, 19 behind 21st-ranked Anderson. FHSU is the third-highest ranked team in the Central Region behind top-ranked and defending national champion Minnesota State and No. 12 Pittsburg State. Two other regional opponents are also mentioned, with Southern Nazarene sitting in 24th and Harding receiving votes.

This is the sixth time the Tigers have been ranked in the preseason media poll that is now in its 11th year of existence. The Tigers were 10th to start the 2015-16 season, 22nd to open the 2018-19 season, third to begin the 2019-20 year, seventh to begin the 2021-22 campaign and ninth to start the 2022-23 season.

Fort Hays State is also ranked in the preseason coaches poll, sitting 23rd in that Top 25 list.

The Tigers will begin the regular season this weekend at the Central Region Showcase in St. Joseph, Mo. Fort Hays State will take on Augustana on Friday and MSU Moorehead on Saturday, with both games beginning at 12:30 p.m.
