🥎Monarchs keep winning streak alive with sweep of Dodge City

DODGE CITY – The TMP-Marian Monarchs softball team remained unbeaten with a pair of run-rule victories over the Dodge City Red Deamons Friday in Dodge City.  

GAME 1: TMP 17, Dodge City 2
In the first game of the day, the Monarchs' offense exploded for 11 runs in the fifth inning in a 17-2 win over the Dodge City Red Demons.

All nine Monarchs in the lineup collected at least one hit, and eight drove in at least one run.

With one out in the top of the first, the Monarchs recorded three straight singles, with Brooke Koenigsman and Paige Koenigsman driving in runs, putting TMP up 2-0.

Dodge City scored two in the bottom of the first inning, tying the game at two.

After a scoreless second, TMP broke on the scoreboard again, scoring four more runs in the top of the third inning.

The Monarchs scored three runs on an error, and Adison Watson added an RBI single, helping the Monarchs build a 6-2 lead through two and a half innings.

TMP’s big inning came in the top of the fifth inning, scoring 11 runs.

With the bases loaded, Dodge City’s shortstop committed an error, putting TMP up 7-2.

Two hitters later, Brooke Koenigsman doubled to left, scoring three runs, giving TMP a 10-2 lead.

Two batters later, Bria Windholz singled Koenigsman home for an 11-2 lead.

Adison Watson followed with a two-run double, making it 13-2 TMP.

Following an error, Teagan Gottschalk drove in two more with an RBI single.

TMP followed that with back-to-back RBI triples from Raegan Allen and Brynn Rebel as they built a 17-2 lead on their way to the victory.

Brooke Koenigsman drove in four runs and scored three times. Adison Watson added three RBIs.

Brynn Rebel allowed just one earned run, on three hits with four walks and eight strikeouts in five innings for the win.

GAME 2: TMP 18, Dodge City 1
The Monarchs carried their offensive explosion from the first game into game two, scoring 11 runs in the first inning on their way to an 18-1 win.

The game's first two hitters reached base for TMP, and Brooke Koenigsman promptly drove them home with a two-RBI double.

Koenigsman scored on a passed ball, and the next four Monarchs walked with a fourth run crossing the plate on an error by the pitcher.

A fifth walk in the inning, with the bases loaded, by Molly Helget put TMP up 5-0.

Brynn Rebel followed up with a two-run double, then back-to-back RBI singles for Hannan Rose and Koenigsman made it 9-0 TMP.

Bria Windholz added an RBI single and Addison Watson a sacrifice fly to put TMP up 11-0 in the top half of the first inning.

After Dodge City scored a run in the bottom of the first, TMP scored more in the top of the second inning. Scoring on a Rose RBI single and a Paige Koenigsman ground out, putting TMP up 13-1.

A Bridget Feldt RBI single made it 14-1 TMP in the top of the third inning.

Teagan Gottschalk’s two-run home run led off a four-run inning for TMP, putting the Monarchs up 16-1.

They also scored on an error and a Feldt single on their way to the 18-1 victory.

Brooke Koenigsman drove in three runs in the game for TMP. Hannah Rose and Brynn Schoepf each added three runs scored.

Bria Windholz earned the win in the circle for TMP. She allowed just one run, on two hits, with two walks and five strikeouts in four innings.

TMP has won 18 straight and will play at Hays High on Thursday.
