WINGATE, N.C. - The Fort Hays State baseball team returned to the NCBWA Top 25 this week after receiving votes for the last two weeks, with the Tigers now ranked 25th as announced Wednesday (April 30) by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
This is the third time this season the Tigers have cracked the top 25 in addition to three weeks when FHSU was receiving votes. Fort Hays State was listed at No. 22 in the country on April 2 before climbing as high as No. 20 one week later on April 9.
The Tigers are one of three MIAA programs listed in the top 25 alongside No. 3 Central Missouri and No. 15 Pittsburg State. Additionally, Central Oklahoma is recognized in the also receiving votes category.
Fort Hays State is 32-12 on the year, tied for the 16th fewest losses in Division II. The Tigers also rank 24th in the country in win percentage and are tied for first place in the MIAA standings at 26-7 with three games remaining in the regular season.
The Tigers will wrap up the regular season this week at Rogers State Thursday through Saturday (May 1-3) before heading to Joplin, Mo. for the MIAA Championship Tournament May 7-10.
