
AHSGR Sunflower Chapter
Helping to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Volga German settlements of Ellis and Rush counties the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia (AHSGR) in conjunction with the Hays Sunflower Chapter will be holding its 56th annual international convention in Hays, August 5-7, 2026. The convention will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn.
Members and non-members of the AHSGR are welcome to register to attend the three-day convention.
Registration for the convention will begin April 1, 2026, on the AHSGR website (www.ahsgr.org).
Activities and seminars scheduled for the convention will include historical, heritage, and publishing presentations. A research library will be made available, as well as a bookstore and vendors. Friday, August 7 activities will conclude with a polka dance open to the public for a $10 per person fee. A five-piece “Red Hotz” Polka band will be the entertainment.
The American Historical Society of Germans from Russia is an international German-Russian heritage organization centered in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The AHSGR houses one of the largest German-Russian libraries including genealogies, historical documents, photographs, family histories, fictional and non-fiction stories and census records. Researchers are available to assist those who are discovering their family history.
