Robert Alan 'Bob' Grant

Robert Alan “Bob” Grant, 77, Hays died Friday, January 14, 2022, at HaysMed.

He was born July 2, 1944, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Robert Cortland and Patience Catherine “Kay” (Ochse) Grant.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during his senior year of high school and served from 1961-1965, during the Vietnam War.  Bob worked in the oilfield as a production foreman for Brexeco.  On August, 29, 1967, he was united in marriage to Connie Hoffman in Denver, Colorado, and they celebrated 54 years of marriage.  He was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church and the Hays American Legion Post #173.  Bob enjoyed working on projects around the house, doing yardwork, and watching John Wayne movies, Gunsmoke, and other TV westerns.  He looked forward to time with his family whether going out to eat or evenings together.

Survivors include his wife Connie of Hays, two sons: Michael Alan “Mike” Grant and wife Colleen of Elizabeth, CO and Steven Christopher Grant and wife Amanda of Victoria, a brother: Fred Grant of Marietta, GA, and three grandchildren:  Tyler Grant and wife Jessica of Colorado Springs, CO, Travis Grant of Castle Rock, CO, and Tanner Grant of Hays.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Bill Grant.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Friday, January 21, 2022, at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church with Fr. Damian Richards officiating.  Burial with military honors by the Hays VFW Post #9076 Honor Guard will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on Thursday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Friday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.  A vigil service and rosary will be at 6:30 pm on Thursday at the funeral home. 

Memorials are suggested to the Neuromuscular Wellness Center at FHSU, St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, or to St. John’s Chapel at Via Christi Village.  Condolences and memories of Bob may be shared with the family at www.haysmemorial.com
