
Charles Edward Morris was born May 9, 1936, in Hill City, Kansas. He was
the sixth child of Robert and Helen Morris. He departed this life
December 30, 2020 at Highland, Kansas. He was a member of the Hill City
Christian Church.
Charles spent his childhood on the farm doing chores, huntin,
fishing, and helping his parents. In high school, he ran track, setting
records in the half-mile.
In 1956, Charles married Karen Kay Goodrow of Morland, Kansas. They
were blessed with four children: Bobby, Robin, Malissa, and Karla.
Charles and Keren celebrated 60 years of marriage.
After high school graduation, Charles operated a bulldozer, helping
in the construction of US Highway 24 west of Hill City, and digging many
basements around Hill City, including the Christian Church and the
Mortuary.
Charles and Karen became farmer/stockmen and through hard work ran a
successful operation. Charles was one of the first farmers in Graham
County to raise irrigated corn and soybeans.
Charles had many talents and interests. He was an exceptional
mechanic, welder, and craftsman. His favorite hobby was flying his own
aircraft. He could be found flying to check sprinklers and cattle on the
farm, delivering wrestlers to camp, his father to doctor appointments,
or visiting family in other states.
Charles also enjoyed traveling to destinations around the world, enjoying Hawaii, Europe, Australia, the Caribbean, and Mexico.
Charles left a legacy of hard work, determination, and individuality to his children and grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Karen; three
brothers; two sisters; a son, and a granddaughter. He leaves behind
three daughters: Robin Hanna (Jon), Malissa Schuler (Mike), and Karla
Moser (Jerry), 10 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
Services were Saturday, January 2, 2020, at Stinemetz Funeral Home.
