After Thursday night's line of storms stayed east and south of Hays and Ellis County, the National Weather Service in Dodge City is now predicting another front late will pass into the area.
There is a 60 percent chance of showers after 5 p.m., although the NWS is only predicting a tenth of an inch of rain. That rain could turn to snow as the mercury dives. Less than an inch of accumulation is possible.
The high temperature Friday is now only expected to reach 42 degrees, dipping to an overnight low of 26.
Skies will clear by Saturday and the temperature will jump back up to the low-to mid-60s through the weekend.
Hays did receive some moisture Thursday, but less than a tenth of an inch. The area remains about 7 inches behind average year-to-date precipitation, according to the K-State Ag Research Center in Hays.
