Monarchs 18U splits with Hill City

HILL CITY - The TMP-Marian Monarchs 18U baseball team sent 20 to the plate and scored 15 runs in the fourth inning of game two of their doubleheader in Hill City Tuesday night, winning 16-2 to gain a split. Hill City scored nine runs in the third and won the opener 13-2 in four innings.

Jace Wentling had two of the Monarchs eight hits  in the second game and drove in four runs. Noah Gibson had three RBIs and Nick Helget two.

Nick Herman allowed two runs on two hits with seven strikeouts and five walks in the four-inning complete game win.

Ethan Atherton drove in both runs in the first game.

In game one, Hill City led 3-0 before the Monarchs (6-2) scored two in the top of the third on an Ethan Atherton two-out, two-run double.

Hill City answered with nine runs in the bottom of the inning.

Mark Rack gave up 11 runs (six earned) over 2 2/3 innings and took the loss.

The Monarchs back in action Thursday with a doubleheader in Larned.
