It was unusually warm in Hays Thursday, so warm that a new record high temperature was set for Dec. 11.
According to the K-State Agricultural Research Center, the temperature reached 76 degrees yesterday.
That surpasses the previous record high of 69 set in 1921 and 1924.
One year ago on Dec. 11, the daytime high was a more moderate 54 degrees.
Cooler temperatures are expected for the weekend. The three-day forecast calls for highs in the 40s, falling to 35 degrees on Sunday.
