HAYS โ The Hays High girls swim team finished runner-up at the WAC meet held at Fort Hays Stateโs Tiger Aquatic Center Thursday.
Senior Izabel Schmidt broke her seventh school record with a first-place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:11.13). Schmidt was also a part of the winning 200 free relay along with Jaylen Hughes, Brekyn Wahlmeier and Lucy Tippy. Hughes finished first in the 100 backstroke.
Schmidt was voted the WAC Swimmer of the Year and Tyler Stein the WAC Coach of the Year.
