
Ronald Francis Werner passed away on February 24, 2022, at the age of
77, at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, Kansas. He was born
on the family farm outside of Plainville to Joseph and Nettie (Larson)
Werner on June 2, 1944. He was united in marriage to Sharon Casey in
1967 and to this union, four children were born: Ronald, Braden,
Sharris, and Justin. They later divorced and Ronald married Jacquelyn
(Bledsoe) Werner in 1997 and he gained two stepdaughters: Vonda and
Tarina.
Ron was born and raised on the family farm. He attended Plainville
High School and graduated with the class of 1962. He furthered his
education at the Air Traffic Control Academy and went to work for the
Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller and a
flight instructor until his retirement. After his retirement he
continued private flight instruction. Ron loved flying and teaching
others was his passion. It could be said he was a born leader and lived
life to the fullest. In his earlier years he flat tracked motorcycle
raced! Above his career was his family. He grew up very close with his
parents and siblings and continued that love of unity with his own
family. He enjoyed time spent with his kids and grandkids, hunting,
fishing, and gardening, or singing along to his favorite country music.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Sacred Heart Catholic
Church.
Above all, he will be remembered for his love of God and family.
Ron is survived by his wife Jacki Werner of the home in Plainville,
KS; children, Ronald (Cappy) Werner of Plainville, KS, Braden (Tammy)
Werner of Plainville, KS, Sharris Werner (Jason Duffey) of Hays and
Colby, KS, and Justin Werner of Plainville, KS; stepdaughters, Vonda
(David) Pfeifer of Stockton, KS, Tarina (Delbert) Hunt of McPherson, KS;
siblings, Richard (Judy) Werner of Plainville, KS, Vernon Werner of
Flagler, CO, and Marylee (Eddie) Schmidtberger of Pratt, KS;
sisters-in-law, LaVonne Werner of Plainville, KS, Lucille Werner of
Plainville, KS; twenty grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren with
two on the way!
He joins in his heavenly home, his parents, Joseph and Nettie
Werner; siblings, Joseph Werner, Leonard Werner, and Donald (Ann)
Werner; sister-in-law, Nancy Werner; and a grandson, Maverick Werner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2022,
at 10:30 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, from 2PM until 5PM and
will be moved to the church starting at 6PM until 8PM with a K of C
Rosary and Vigil Service starting at 7PM.
