⚾ Larks hit four home runs in win in Dodge City

DODGE CITY — The Hays Larks scored in seven of nine innings and remained unbeaten Saturday night with a 17-4 victory over the Dodge City A's at Cavalier Field.

The Larks (16-0, 12-0 RMBL) built an early 5-0 lead, scoring once in the first inning, twice in the second and twice in the third. Dodge City (8-10-1, 6-7 RMBL) answered with three runs in the fourth, but Hays responded with two runs in the fifth, two more in the sixth and one in the seventh to extend its lead to 10-3. The Larks then put the game away with a seven-run ninth inning.

Hays pounded out 19 hits, led by Sean Keenan, Cooper Holtorf and Taber Stokes, who each collected three. Holtorf, Keenan and Tanner Norman all hit solo home runs, while Rayner Beene added a two-run homer and finished with a team-high four RBIs.

Sam Lunsford improved to 4-0 after allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits over five innings. He struck out eight and walked two. Charlie Pearce followed with a scoreless sixth inning before Hunter Cowgill worked the final three innings, allowing four hits while striking out four to earn the save.

The Larks and A's wrap up their three-game series Sunday at Larks Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
