MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Fort Hays State baseball team dropped Monday's series finale at Northwest Missouri State, 14-0.
The Tigers collected three hits on the day, including one each from Jenner Kehe, Grant Schmidt and Brady Kreutzer. Mason Holton (0-3) took the loss after allowing eight runs (six earned) on nine hits over 3.0 innings of work. The freshman struck out three Bearcats on the day. Tanner Lukowski added two more strikeouts over 2.0 innings of relief, allowing five runs (four earned) on three hits. Jason Robertson tossed the final inning for FHSU, giving up one run on one hit while striking out one batter.
The Bearcats scored their 14 runs on 13 hits and a pair of Tiger errors. After Northwest Missouri State scored eight runs over the first three innings, Lukowski came out of the bullpen to post a pair of zeros in the fourth and fifth. The sophomore retired six of the first seven batters he faced before the NWMSU bats got back to work in the sixth, scoring six more runs.
Fort Hays State will wrap up the regular season at home next weekend (April 29-May 1) against No. 3 Central Missouri. Friday night's contest will be Pack the Park - Curt Pfannenstiel Night at Larks Park. First pitch is set for 6 p.m., with food and drink specials and giveaways all evening. Admission for the game will be $5 for adults and $3 for students K-12. FHSU students get in FREE with a valid Tiger Card. Concession specials include $1.50 drinks and $2.00 hamburgers and hot dogs. The Insurance Guys and Cervs will have a limited number of giveaways at the door, so be sure to arrive at Larks Park early! Gates will open at 5 p.m.
