Barbara Kendrick, age 84, of Johnson, Kansas died Monday, September 14, 2020, at her daughter Lyn’s home in Parker, Colorado. She was born April 30, 1936, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the daughter of Harry and Doris (McKelvey) Houf.

Barbara grew up in Colorado Springs and graduated from Palmer High School. After completing High School, Barbara attended Colorado University from 1955 until 1957. Shortly after, she married the love of her life, Ronald Kay Kendrick on June 23, 1957 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He preceded her in death on February 4, 2018 after 61 years of marriage. Together, Barbara and Ron raised 5 children in Johnson, Kansas. During her time in Johnson, she worked as an EMT and also instructed EMT courses for Stanton County. Barbara went back to school and obtained her degree in Nursing in 1992, she then practiced as a Registered Nurse for Stanton County Hospital. Barbara loved to knit, sew, crochet, and make crafts for her family.

Barbara is survived by her three sons, Mark and wife Amie Kendrick of Colby, Kansas, Gary and wife Brenda Kendrick, and Bret and wife Robyn Kendrick all of Johnson, Kansas; two daughters, Julie Brincks of Johnson, Kansas and Lyn Finnegan and husband Greg of Parker, Colorado; sisters, Dodie and husband Frank DeBell of Security, Colorado, Judy Kellogg of Sterling, Colorado; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Harry Houf III; and brother-in-law, Willis Kellogg.

Funeral Service was at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 19, 2020, at Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church in Johnson, Kansas, with Reverend Kurt Rovenstine officiating.
