A new record high was set in Hays on Thursday.
The mercury soared to 93 degrees according to the K-State Agriculture Research Center south of town.
The old record high for March 27 was 90 degrees in 1986.
A year ago on March 27 the high was 57 degrees.
An early evening thunderstorm passed through Hays, bringing some thunder, lightning, 0.05 inches of rain, and finally, a rainbow.
So far in March, Hays has received 0.55 inches of precipitation. The cumulative average is 1.27 inches by the end of the month.

Although moisture conditions improved slightly after last week's blizzard, Ellis County remains in moderate drought or abnormally dry.
