Daniel Verschage, age 79, of Hays, Kansas died Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Hays Medical Center.

He was born May 12, 1942, in Monroe, Illinois to Tayfield Francis and Erma Irene (Cozier) Verschage.  He grew up and attended school in Kewanee, Illinois.  He was a mill operator at the paper mill in Kewanee for over 30 years.

Daniel lived in Tennessee for a few years before moving to Hays in 2005 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Hays.   He enjoyed shopping, going to the Arc Store, getting groceries at Dillons, riding his three wheeled bike, watching Gunsmoke, Bluebloods, and TV westerns. 

Survivors include his caregivers, Ryan Cunningham and Torie Richmond, Hays, KS;  his two little half-pints, Ryenn and Harper Cunningham; his extended family, Janae, Skye, Kylie, Kelsey; other friends and loved ones.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 6, 2021,  at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601 with Rev. Troy Miller officiating.  Burial will be in Fort Hays Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hays.

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, at Clines-Keithley Mortuary of Hays.

In lieu of flowers, his caregivers suggests memorials made payable to: The Arc of Central Plains, in care of the mortuary.

Services are entrusted to Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601.
