TOPEKA - Hays High finished third with a 2-3 record at the Topeka Seaman Duals on Friday. Washburn Rural went undefeated at 5-0 and Basehor-Linwood finished 4-1.
The Indians recorded victories over Topeka-Seaman (47-30) and Pittsburg (47-30.) Hays fell to Basehor-Linwood (47-18), Washburn Rural (50-27) and Salina Central (42-37.)
Hays record 19 pins on the day. Junior Tanner Geist tied for the third most pins in the dual tournament with four. Johnny Rigler and Ethan Branaman each had three pins. Rigler record the fastest two pins in the event at 12 and 13 seconds. Geist has the fourth quickest pin at 17 seconds.
Geist record a victory in each of his five matches. Rigler went 4-1 with his lone loss being a sudden-victory defeat to the second ranked wrestler at 190 pounds in 5A. Rigler is ranked third.
Hays hosts Liberal in a dual on Tuesday and then the Jr. Prairie Classic on Friday.
