🏐 Victoria among area teams to advance out of regionals

VICTORIA - The Victoria volleyball team advanced to Saturday’s Class 1A Division 2 Sub-State Tournament after winning their own regional Tuesday at VHS. The Knights (31-6), ranked sixth in last week's KVA poll, defeated Pawnee Heights 25-15, 25-9 and Logan/Palco 25-14, 25-9. Pawnee Heights defeated Logan/Palco in three sets to also advance.

Grainfield-Wheatland went 3-0 to win their 1A Division 2 regional. The Thunderhawks (26-13) defeated Triplains (25-5, 25-9), Northern Valley (25-13, 25-23) and Golden Plains (25-17, 25-18).

Quinter and La Crosse both advanced out of the Quinter 1A Division 1 regional. The host Bulldogs (25-10), ranked eighth in last week's KVA poll, went 2-0 with wins over Stockton (25-14, 25-9) and La Crosse (25-15, 25-19). The Leopards (15-21) defeated Stockton (25-23, 25-16) to advance.

Ellis advanced out of the Tribune regional. The Railers (10-22) went 1-1, losing to host Greeley County (25-14, 25-17) but came back and defeated Central Plains (25-21, 25-20).

Hill City went 1-1 in Jetmore and advanced. The Ringnecks (10-24) lost to host Hodgeman County (25-19, 25-9) but came back to beat Lakeside (25-22, 25-18).

Sub-state tournaments take place this Saturday.
