The Kansas Science Festival is returning to Downtown Hays on Sunday May 3rd. With astronomy viewing and additional events scheduled for Saturday May 2nd, the event brings two days of interactive experiences highlighting the worlds of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The festival invites K-12 students, families, educators, and community members from across Kansas to explore, question, and discover together.

As part of a statewide initiative, the Kansas Science Festival is designed to demonstrate how STEM is accessible, engaging, and relevant for Kansans of all ages. Festival participants can explore a wide range of topics, including robotics, chemistry, ecology, astronomy, wildlife biology, health sciences, agricultural technology and more—illustrating how STEM intersects with nearly everything on our planet. Sunday event stations will spread along Main Street in Downtown Hays, from the Hays Public Library to STEM Harvest.

Last year’s event brought around 1,200 participants to Downtown Hays with visitors from across the state. We received rave reviews from preschoolers to high schoolers to adults, all finding activities to pique their interest. “The kids and even my husband and I had so much fun today!!!” Another participant shared, “I continue to get comments wherever I went about the amazing day in Downtown Hays. Can't wait for more just like it!!”

Event Highlights:

• Interactive stations with hands-on experiments, live animals, robots, tools, technologies and more – geared towards K-12 students and families
• Meet-and-greet: Interact with STEM professionals and check out their careers
• Free hot dog meal (while supplies last)
• Food trucks, live music, balloon artists, face painting, and more

The festival is free and open to the public. Stay up to date on the event and the exciting, additional activities on Saturday by following event partners on social media or by visiting https://sciencefestks.org/hays.
