With summer baseball season about to start, the Hays Parks Department is sprucing up portions of Larks Park.

The old fence has been removed and a new one installed, along with a new arched entrance sign, Deputy Assistant City Manager Collin Bielser told the city commission during his monthly progress report.

The project is made possible by the Hays Larks, Heartland Community Foundation, Ron “Gator” and Lila Nelson, Lyle Herrman, Logan Nelson, and the City of Hays.

In addition to other progress made in the past month by the city of Hays various departments, the parks department has a new male bison calf to care for in the herd at Frontier Park.

"Waylon" was born April 18.

See the video below for more recently completed projects within the city.
