RUSSELL COUNTY —Two people were injured in separate accidents during Sunday evening's severe thunderstorm and high winds in Russell County.
Just after 5p.m. Sunday, a 2020 Freightliner semi driven by Mohamed Soliman I, 53, Charlotte, North Carolina, was westbound on Interstate 70 at 193 Street. The semi rolled and came to a rest on its driver's side.
EMS transported a passenger from the sleeper berth Victor Navarro, 57, Charlotte, North Carolina, to Russell Regional Medical Center and then to Hays Medical Center. The driver was not injured.
A few minutes later, a 2017 Ford F150 towing a 2021 Cougar Travel Trailer and driven by Damon L. Brown, 51, Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, was eastbound on Interstate 70 just east of 193rd Street. Strong winds from the thunderstorm rolled the pickup and camper over.
EMS transported a passenger April D. Brown, 46, Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, to Russell Regional Hospital.
