The Hays USD 489 school board will consider the sale of property adjacent to the current middle school at 201 W. 29th St. at its 6:30 meeting tonight at the Rockwell Administration Center.
The board will consider a motion to sell 7.23 acres of land north of the Hays Middle School football field through a sealed-bid process.
The district would retain the right to refuse any bid.
The board will also consider a bid for asbestos abatement at the current middle school as it is renovated into a new elementary school.
The bid for $110,315 from Integrated Solutions will include the removal of asbestos floor tile, adhesive and window glazing from Felten Elementary during renovations.
Staff will start moving the middle school into the renovated high school building on 13th Street this week.
The new elementary school is set to open in August.
The board will also hear an audit report, hear a first reading on recommended Kansas Association of School Boards policy changes, vote on the school calendars and hear a bond projects update from Superintendent Ron Wilson.
