Sara Jane Reed, 75, died February 7, 2021, at Medicalodges of Great Bend, Kansas. She was born January 21, 1946, in Wellington, Kansas, the daughter of Louis M. and Hazel E. (Russell) Cole. In 1964, Sara graduated from Independace High School, Independence, Kansas, and later completed 2 years of business school.
On February 6, 1965, she married Larry E. Reed at Grace Memorial Methodist Church, Independence, Kansas.
Sara was a longtime resident of Great Bend, and was a secretary and bookkeeper for various business including Roto-Mix in Hoisington. She was a member of King Memorial United Methodist Church in Great Bend. A few of Sara’s hobbies included wood carving and stained glass. Some of her work can even be seen in the windows of her church. She also loved to dance, old rock and roll, polka, or country, and her and Larry square danced in a club for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Larry E. Reed of the home; daughter, Laurie McCurry and husband Mike of Hoisington; son, Eric Reed and wife Angela of Garden City; sister, Susan Sutton of Gladstone, Missouri; five grandchildren, Cole McCurry and wife Raegan of Great Bend, Nolan McCurry and finacee Sara Burwell of Wichita, Luke Reed of Wichita, Gwen Reed and Katie Reed, both of Garden City; and one great granddaughter, Harper McCurry expected this April.
Friends may sign the book at Bryant Funeral Home, there will be no viewing as cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be announced at a later date.
