June Koerner, 85, Hays, passed away Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at Hays Good Samaritan Society.
She was born Aug. 27, 1938, in Hays, the daughter of Nick and Louise (Pfannenstiel) Rohr. On Sept. 1, 1956, she was united in marriage to Frederick “Fred” Koerner in Hays and he preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 2010. June was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a bookkeeper for Jep Jacobs and a switchboard operator at High Plains Mental Health.
Survivors include her three sons, Ben (Julie) Koerner of Gilbert, Ariz., Jay (Terry) Koerner of Lakeland, Fla., and Brent (Shelby) Koerner of Woodstock, Ga., one brother, Maurice (Mary Rose) Rohr of Hays, one sister, Marjorie (Clayton) Meyers of Hays, 11 grandchildren, Courtney (William) Krokey, Megan (Ben) Stidham, Dakota (Brittney) Koerner, Sierra (Zach) Nellenbach, Brady (Josselyn) Koerner, Chase Harbula, Chandler Koerner, Jonah Dreyfus, Kennedy Koerner, Chloe Koerner, and Jada Dreyfus, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred, her daughter, Pamela Koerner, and a grandson, Joseph Lee Koerner.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Richard Daise officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, and from 9 until 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
A vigil service and Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested for family wishes to be determined at a later date with checks made payable to Ben Koerner. Condolences and memories of June may be left for her family at www.haysmemorial.com.
