
Ralph Jay Brooks, 94, passed away November 22, 2020, at the Sheridan
County Health Complex in Hoxie, Kansas. He was born on April 3, 1926, on
the family farm in Clayton, Kansas to Van W. and Thelma (Foust) Brooks.
Ralph married Lea Rae Branscomb April 29, 1944. They were married for
59 years and made their home in Clayton, Kansas where Ralph was a
farmer and rancher. He served in the United States Army as a
Radio/Radar Technician from May of 1944 until May of 1946 and was a
proud veteran of World War II.
Ralph was an avid KU Basketball Fan. He loved country music and played the harmonica since childhood.
Ralph is survived by his son, Don Brooks and wife Barbara of
Clayton, Kansas; daughters, Carolyn “Jo” Walker and husband Dennis of
Clayton, Kansas and Janet Guerrero and husband John of Salina, Kansas;
brother, Vern Brooks and wife Martha of Green Valley, Arizona; four
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren
and many beloved in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Bradley; and three sisters-in-law.
Cremation has been chosen. A public visitation will be held at
Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, in Hoxie, Kansas, on Friday, November 27,
2020 from 1:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. A private family service will be held
on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at the Funeral Home. Following the
service, inurnment and military rites will take place at the Clayton
Cemetery, Clayton, Kansas.
Memorials are suggested to the Sheridan County Health Complex Long Term Care Unit or the Clayton Cemetery.
