👟 Monarchs win 3 events at Hill City regional

HILL CITY – TMP-Marian had three first place finishes at Thursday’s Hill City 2A Regional Track and Field meet. The Monarchs qualified four individuals in six events.

The top three places in each event qualify for state along with the top four performances in each event from around the state.

Freshman Piper Simpson won the girls pole vault with a personal best vault of 10-6. Paige Schlyer won the discus (122-7) and Jackson Gillespie won the boys 100 with a time of 11.38.

Schlyer finished second in the shot put with a personal best mark of 39-4.50. Shyanne Yost finished second in the girls high jump (5-0).

Gillespie placed third int eh 200 (23.43).

The Monarch girls finished fifth in the team standings. Hoxie won the meet with Ellinwood second and Oakley third.

Smith Center took home the boys team title with Phillipsburg second and Ellinwood third.

Plainville’s Brilynn Trumpp qualified in three events. The freshman finished second in the 1600 (5:21.25) and third in both the 800 (2:25.43) and 3200 (12:24.97). All three were personal best marks.

The Cardinals Tucker Rudman won the shot put (PR 49-7.50) and discus (156-6).

Trego junior Tegan Lang qualified for state in two events. She finished second in the 100 hurdles (16.34) and was third in the triple jump with a personal best leap of 35-0.25.

Three Golden Eagles boys qualified for state. Tripp Hudson won the triple jump (41-7.50). Christopher Ghumm was second (48-8.75) and Sammy Espinoza third (47-1.50) in the shot put.
