Kathy Joanne Elliott, age 70, longtime Great Bend, Kansas resident passed away on Tuesday morning, July 16, 2024 at Hospice House of Reno County in Hutchinson, Kansas. Kathy was born on July 19, 1953 at Kinsley, Kansas to Raymond and Darlene (Proffitt) Strait. She lived in Kinsley, Chase, and Lyons before moving to Great Bend many years ago. Kathy worked in the Housekeeping Department at Central Kansas Medical Center for many years prior to her retirement. A longtime member of Encounter Church in Great Bend, she also enjoyed crocheting and knitting, gardening, and reading the Bible.
Survivors include four sons: Jimi (& Alicia) Elliott of Auburn, Kansas, and Jeremy (& Kimberly) Elliott, Toby (& Erica) Elliott, and Cody Elliott (& Kelsi Thompson) all of Great Bend; 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; one brother Dennis Strait of Kinsley, Kansas; nieces and nephews. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Michelle Elliott; two sisters: Sherry Strait and Pat Brabander.
According to Kathy’s wishes, cremation has been chosen and no services are planned at this time. The family has requested that Memorial Contributions be made in care of the family for later designation.
