Teen injured after car strikes semi in median from earlier crash

ELLIS COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just before 8:30a.m. Friday in Ellis County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a  2020 Chevrolet Impala driven by Trinity M. Burke, 19, Las Vegas, Nevada, was westbound on interstate 70 at Walker Avenue. The driver lost control of the car crossing an icy bridge.

The vehicle entered the center median and stuck a semi that was on its side from a previous accident. After impact the Chevy re-entered the highway and came to rest on the north bound shoulder facing west.

EMS transported Burke to Hays Medical Center. She was properly restrained, according to the KHP.
