Bradley Dean Seibel was born on November 23, 1958, in Hays, Kansas. His life reflected an extraordinary blend of intelligence, kindness, humor, grit, and integrity.
The third of seven children of Marilynn and Darrell Seibel, Brad grew up in a home that nurtured his wholehearted approach to life and formed a lasting family bond. He moved through the world with relentless energy and practical curiosity, occasionally taking things apart to understand exactly how they functioned. As a teenager, he restored cars and worked on wheat harvests, a training ground for his discipline and endurance.
Brad was an elite distance runner, holding high school records for more than 30 years. While competing in the state cross country meet, he broke his leg after the first hill and somehow kept running, finishing 12th with a 10:01 two-mile. The next year, with the advantage of two working legs, he won.
In 1974, Brad met his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Judy Rice. Four years later, they began a marriage defined by enduring love and the kind of partnership that shaped every aspect of who he became. Together, they devoted themselves to their two daughters, Whitney and Meredith, who are inspired by his profound influence and belief in them. In later years, becoming “Gramps” to his four adoring grandkids was one of his greatest joys.
After earning his Finance degree from Fort Hays State University, Brad moved with Judy to Colby in 1981, where he sold and programmed computer systems for banks. His path toward Edward Jones began early, when his father joined the firm and planted a seed that Brad would later cultivate in his own distinctive way.
Brad joined Edward Jones in 1983 as a Financial Advisor in Russell, beginning a 43-year career of uncommon depth and impact. He was a recognized community leader, and also the kind of person who climbed ladders and rooftops to install Christmas lights throughout downtown. In 1996, he moved to McPherson, where many trusted him for steady guidance, friendship, and the occasional chart illustrating the point. He gave his time freely, always working to leave each town brighter.
To call Brad a financial advisor is accurate, but insufficient. He studied people’s lives, remembering personal details that made them feel understood. He transformed investing from a spreadsheet to a story, weaving together history, economics, and technology to help each family make a roadmap for their future. That commitment is shared by his office team, whose care and expertise have served McPherson for decades. Across Edward Jones, Brad was admired for pairing brilliance with generosity, earning the Spirit of Caring Award from colleagues twice.
Many counted on Brad to confidently tackle challenges both big and small. He knew how to handle it, whether loading a U-Haul to drive a loved one to their next chapter, building a clever structure to optimize a space, writing a warm sympathy note to provide comfort, or fixing a broken-down car to get everyone home safe. When Judy’s father passed away at a young age, Brad honored a quiet promise by looking out for his mother-in-law for decades. He also had a gift for creating adventures by spotting the hidden possibilities, once climbing the back of an Egyptian pyramid “to see what was up there.”
Brad brought that intrepid spirit to his children and grandchildren, crossing the country to be present for every stage. He was tender with them as babies and encouraging as they grew, gently tucking memorable lessons into their cherished time together.
Brad passed away unexpectedly on June 7, 2026, at age 67. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marilynn Seibel, and his father-in-law, Jimmy Rice.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy; his daughters, Whitney Hill and Meredith (Matt) Friedman; and his grandchildren, Jack Bradley & Vivian Hill, and Helen & Claire Friedman. He is also survived by his father, Darrell Seibel; his mother-in-law, Nelda Rice; his siblings, Greg (Donna) Seibel, Jeff (Stacey) Seibel, Marcie (Rodger) Steffen, Linda Seibel, Brent (Kitty) Seibel, and Michael (Angela) Seibel; his sister-in-law, Jana (Mike) Pihota; his 16 nieces and nephews; his extended family; and his dear little dog, Bunny.
