MAIZE - The Hays High baseball team was shutout in both of their games at the Jerry Helm Air Capital Classic. The Indians lost 10-0 to Stillwater, Oklahoma then fell 17-0 to Maize. Both games ended after five innings due to run-rule.
Stillwater (Okla.) 10, Hays 0 (5 innings)
The Pioneers scored two in the first, three in the second then five in the third.
Brett Rhoades took the loss. The starter surrendered eight runs (six earned) on five hits with three strikeouts and four walks. Rhoades had the only hit of the game for Hays.
Maize 17, Hays0 (5 innings)
The Eagles score 14 runs in the bottom of the first.
Jaden Leiker, Kaleb Roe, Jarek Purdy, Cade Jennings and Paxton Shaw all had a hit with Shaw providing a triple.
Shaw took the loss on the mound.
