The Kansas Drought Monitor, released today, shows drought is easing across the state, including in Ellis County.
About half of Ellis County shows no drought, while the other half exhibits abnormally dry conditions.
Pockets of moderate and severe drought remain along the Nebraska border.
As of this morning, Hays has received 1.47 inches of rain in June and 10.35 inches of precipitation year to date, according to the K-State Ag Research Center.
Hays averages 3.38 inches of rain in June and 11.31 inches of precipitation year to date by the end of June.
Friday's forecast is for a high of 101 in Hays. Hot temperatures and wind will remain in the forecast through Sunday, with a chance of thunderstorms returning on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
