Linda (Terrell) Romey, age 63 of Norton, Kansas, losing her battle to Cancer, passed away April 6, 2023, at Norton County Hospital with her husband Terry and family by her side. She was born on May 19,1959 in Norton, Kansas, to Kenneth and Betty (Kendall) Terrell. Linda graduated from Norton High School in 1977. Continuing her education at Fort Hays State graduating with a BA in Accounting and Art. After college, she started her career as a counselor at the Kansas Department of Corrections in Norton until her retirement.
Terry was Linda’s Farrier and from there they started a long-term relationship. Linda and Terry were married on September 29, 2017.
Linda was an animal lover, leaving behind her faithful horses Sherry and Dakota. She loved working in her garden and flower beds. In 1996, Linda and friends started Second Chance Pets where she presided as President until her illness. Through this organization, they were able to save countless dogs’ lives by getting them adopted. Linda was the proudest of her grandchildren. When interacting with the babies, you could see the twinkle in her eyes. Linda was also a huge KU, KC Royal, and KC Chiefs fan.
She was proceeded in death by her father Kenneth.
She is survived by; Husband Terry, Mother Betty Terrell, Norton, Sister Debra Terrell, Norton, Brother Mike Terrell, Norton, three stepchildren, Jake (Bethany) Romey, Ellis, Audra (Scott) McAdoo, Russell, Analise (Chaeney Blaize) Romey, Wichita; Four grandchildren; Robert Joseph (RJ) and Paisley Grace Romey, Adley May and Amelia McAdoo; and four nieces and one nephew.
A visitation and vigil for Linda will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023, 10:00, at Plumer-Goober Funeral Home, 215 West Main St. Norton, Ks 67654. Burial will be at the Norton Cemetery. Mourners are asked to bring their horses and mules (not necessary) to the funeral home to give Linda her last ride to the cemetery. Call Terry for details 785-656-0957.
