
Dolorsis R. "Dee" Scheetz, age 85, of Pflugerville, Texas, passed away
April 3, 2023, at Round Rock Assisted Living in Round Rock, Texas, with
her son Christopher Scheetz by her side.
Dee was born on January
13, 1938, in Oakley, Kansas. Her parents were Gabriel Scheetz and
Bernadine (Ecclesfield) Scheetz. She graduated from Oakley High School
Class of 1956. For college, she graduated from Loretto Heights Academy
near Denver, Colorado. She retired from IBM after 33 years of service,
where she worked on numerous technologies that changed our daily lives.
Early in her career, she was a proponent who fought for equal pay for
women and racial equality in hiring.
She was heavily involved in
charitable work and the Catholic church. As one of the founding members
of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Austin, Texas, she founded
the high school youth group. She served on numerous committees,
including building the church and new parish hall. Dee was an active
Dame of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre, where she achieved
the highest promotion to Lady of the Grand Cross. Serving an
organization that she loved, she is a past State Regent of the Catholic
Daughters of the Americas. In 2019, the Diocese of Austin awarded her
the Lumen Gentium Award. She donated not only her time, but her wealth.
Dee gifted the church many items such as the grand piano, the
audio-visual system, and numerous pieces of artwork. She had a passion
for sports, charitable giving, cultural activities, entertainment,
family, and the sanctity of life.
Preceding her in death was her
father, Gabriel Scheetz, her mother, Bernadine (Ecclesfield) Scheetz,
and her brothers, Bernard, Richard, and Philip Scheetz.
Surviving
Dee is her son Chris Scheetz, brother Dennis Scheetz and his wife
Phyllis (Ostmeyer) Scheetz, sister-in-law Sally Scheetz, nieces, and
nephews, Melissa (Scheetz) Romme, Mary Ann (Scheetz) Rabe, Stanley
Scheetz, Kathy (Scheetz) Davis, Sherry (Scheetz) DiGiovanni, as well as
their spouses and children along with an abundance of dear friends.
A
visitation, vigil, and rosary for Dee will be held Monday, April 10,
2023, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral
Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. A funeral
mass will occur Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 10:00 am, at St Albert the
Great Catholic Church, 12041 Bittern Hollow, Austin, TX 78758. After,
she will be transported to Oakley, Kansas.
In Oakley, KS, a
visitation, vigil, and rosary will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023,
from 5 pm to 8 pm, vigil at 7 pm at Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home, 217
Freeman Ave, Oakley, KS 67748. On Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 10 am the
funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 625 Freeman
Ave Oakley, KS 67748. Fr. Luke Thielen will be officiating with burial
to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
